Cooperation and Coordination in Emergency Management
Cooperation for environmental protection
and adaptation to climate change
The Mediterranean is one of the “laboratories”
of the global warming impacts. In the Mediterranean
area, climate change is running at
a rate 20% higher than the global average,
and the pre-industrial temperature has already
been exceeded by a range from 1.2 to 3°, with
climate variables compromised. This makes
the Mediterranean region a hotspot of climate
change impacts with prolonged rainfall deficits
and weather events with high magnitude
and real tropical hurricanes known as Medicane,
which have effects on water and natural environment,
agriculture, urban areas, health and
migration.
